But the classic sandwich cookie company isn't resting on its laurels for the rest of the vacation months. On Monday, Oreo also announced four new flavors fans can expect this summer.

Oreo Thins Latte

Coffee addicts of the world, listen up. The latte creme-filled cookie debuts in June.

Marshmallow Moon Oreos

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, there's the purple marshmallow creme inside cookies, decorated with a trio of lunar-inspired designs. The packaging glows in the dark and comes with stickers. This product launches in mid-June.

Baskin-Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip Oreos

Coming mid-July is cookies featuring mint and chocolate cremes with chocolate chips. Baskin-Robbins has more than 7,800 retail shops around the world and is owned by the Dunkin' Brands Group.

Maple Creme Oreos

It's hard to imagine summer ending, especially since it hasn't even begun yet. But when the days start to cool off, Oreo will offer up maple creme between two Golden Oreo cookies. These treats will be available in late August.

"What they're trying to do is get more shelf space, more attention," said Phil Lempert, founder of supermarketguru.com, which tracks industry news and trends. "Sales are down....They have more competition today from non-traditional cookies and snacks than they ever had before."      '
