Springfield IHOP appears to have damage on the roof, inside restaurant

Visible damage inside the Springfield IHOP can be seen through the restaurant’s windows and the chain remains closed.

The Springfield News-Sun was alerted of the damage on social media and was able to confirm it Wednesday afternoon. An email to a corporate spokeswoman was not returned Wednesday afternoon.

MORE: Local IHOP restaurants padlocked

Three IHOP locations around the Miami Valley closed abruptly on Friday, including the Springfield location. A sign alerts customers in Springfield that the store is closed temporarily.

Springfield workers told this news organization that they weren’t given much notice before the restaurants were closed either.

Meanwhile, employees of the Dayton-area IHOP restaurants were told Tuesday morning that the restaurants would be reopening in perhaps a month, although they were given no target date for a return to work.

The Huber Heights and Beavercreek locations closed the same day as Springfield’s. Previously, IHOP spokeswoman Stephanie Peterson said in a statement the owner of the restaurants could no longer operate them.

The restaurant chain is exploring options to get the padlocked restaurants reopened, Peterson said last week.

Officials with the Huber Heights and Beavercreek IHOP restaurants set aside rooms in nearby Panera Bread Cafes Tuesday morning for employees to pick up paychecks and ask questions. This news outlet spoke with multiple employees who said they were told the restaurants would reopen, and they were offered hours at IHOP locations in northern Cincinnati during the shutdown of their Dayton-area stores.

Several employees said they had interviews lined up, or in some cases had already landed jobs, at other restaurants.

IHOP officials did not respond to an email request for comment Wednesday.
