Target’s new loyalty program launching for area shoppers

Dayton-area shoppers will soon be able to join Target’s trial rewards program that offers special deals and early access to big sales.

The free rewards program Target Circle will launch nationwide Oct. 6, according to a statement from the retailer. Members of the program will get 1 percent back on every trip that can be redeemed later at Target. They’ll also get personalized deals on the products they shop most and a birthday gift.

Shoppers will also have early access to big sales and will get votes to help direct Target’s donation dollars for every purchase made.

“We worked directly with guests to develop Target Circle, and the program includes the benefits and perks that they told us were most important to them, from earning on every Target trip to having the opportunity to help Target make a positive impact within their local communities,” said Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief marketing and digital officer for Target.

Customers who already have a Target.com account, Cartwheel or a Target RedCard will automatically be added to the rewards program. Others can sign up for a Target.com account, be approved for a RedCard or share their phone number at checkout starting Oct. 6, according to the statement.
