Jay-Z to reopen historic Webster Hall with 'B-Sides 2' concert

Brooklyn’s own Jay-Z is reopening an iconic New York venue with a concert this month.

CNN reported that Webster Hall, a historic concert venue, will reopen with Jay-Z doing a sequel to his 2015 "B-Sides" shows at New York's Terminal 5 April 26. In that two-night performance, the rapper performed lesser-known album tracks.

It's not clear if the set list will change for the 2019 set, but the first set catered to the rapper's Tidal streaming service, streaming exclusively for subscribers. The only way fans could get tickets to the event was by signing up for Tidal and entering a contest to make their own playlists, Rolling Stone reported at the time.

"When we were thinking about who would be the right choice to open this legendary venue, we knew it had to be a world-famous New York City icon," Brooklyn Sports Entertainment Global CEO Brett Yormark said in a statement, according to The Source. "No one fits that description better than Jay-Z, who will join an unparalleled list of celebrated performers who have played Webster Hall."

Rolling Stone reported BSE Global and The Bowery Presents acquired the rights and assets to Webster Hall in 2017, shutting down the venue for years of renovations to preserve iconic features and modernize the experience.

Jay-Z’s “B-Sides 2” show will be April 26. American Express card members can get tickets before the general public Thursday at 10 a.m. EDT. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday at 11 a.m. EDT.

Other performers booked for the reopened venue include Vampire Weekend, Patti Smith and Her Band, MGMT, Sigrid, and Broken Social Scene.
