Dayton streets to close for filming of Danny Glover, Robert Redford movie

Hollywood is coming to Dayton, and that’s going to require a few closed streets.

The city of Dayton is clarifying information it released earlier about streets that will be closed May 1 and 2 for filming of "The Old Man and the Gun" starring Hollywood heavy hitters Robert RedfordSissy SpacekDanny Glover and Casey Affleck.

A portion of the film will be recorded in the old Liberty Saving’s lobby and at least one other part of the Liberty Tower.

Redford plays an elderly bank robber now living in a retirement community in the film directed by David Lowery.

Much of the movie is being filmed in the Cincinnati area, but other Southwest Ohio cities are getting pieces of the action. Scenes for the movie are also being filmed in Hamilton.

Portions of downtown streets will be temporarily closed early next week while crews film a movie.

  • Second Street will be closed between Ludlow and Wilkinson streets from 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, through 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 2.
  •  — The closure will expand to Second Street between Main and Perry streets from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. on May 1 only (this closure could end earlier, depending on how filming goes).
  • — Ludlow and Wilkinson streets will be closed between First and Third streets from 10 a.m. through 7 p.m. on May 1 only (this closure could end earlier, depending on how filming goes).
