Before the winner could be crowned, Vinny and his owner, Johnny Acampora, along with five other canine and human duos, made their way to the TODAY show stage to show off the pup’s impressive skills. Actor John Hurley of “Seinfeld” and professional judge David Frei ultimately picked their winner out of the six.

The dogs were judged on three main criteria: if they were a great companion to their human, how adorable they are and if they possess any special skills or tricks.

Acampora brought Vinny home nine months ago after losing his mother-in-law and their first puppy, Ren. Vinny’s arrival has brought happier times for his owner, who appreciates the endless supply of kisses that he receives from his pup.
