“The newest piece is called ‘Prairie Passion.’ It’s a mixed media that features loosely drawn and constructed prairie plants, mostly earth-toned rust colors and light blues,” said Stolzenberger, who is having a crazy week trying to get everything accomplished before the festival. “It’s done in layers of drawings and acrylic paint with lots of texture.”
Another of her works is “Totem Relics,” a 2015 piece with high-texture layers of material and acrylic paint, using handmade stamps and stencils.
“The technique is push-pull, where layers of paint are thinly brushed over stenciled forms, which allows the previous layers to show through,” said Stolzenberger. “It’s an abstract that’s a little conceptual.”

The concept of an outdoor festival at the beautiful Civic Commons has been a successful one. More than 100 talented artists from across the country display paintings, ceramics, digital art, fiber/leather, glass, jewelry, photography, sculpture, works on paper, and wood creations.
The jurors for 2018 were Eve Fleck from the Springfield Museum of Art; Marta Hewett, owner of a Cincinnati gallery; and Kettering Arts Council member Alex Ignatiou. They selected the winning artists from more than 200 entrants. The other two featured artists from Ohio are Barry Todd and Daniel Powers.
Other artists hail from Florida, Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. Miami Valley artists are Jeff Borda, David Brand, Thomas Croce, Keith Culley, Jim DeLange, Douglas Fiely, Michelle F. Hall, Kate Lally, Mike McGinnis, Paula McKinney, Greg Neal, Christine Noah-Cooper and Regina Simas.

Live entertainment will be presented by 91.3 WYSO-FM with Niki Dakota.
Concessions include Ernie’s, Sweet P’s, Harvest Mobile, Bella Sorella Pizza, El Meson and Tibbs Italian Ice.
Rosewood Arts Centre will once again offer interactive activities for all ages.
Art on the Commons is programmed through the Kettering park district. It is sponsored by the Dayton City Paper, WYSO, the School of Advertising Art, the Kettering Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council.
