Dine on German food and indulge in unique gifts at the annual Christkindlmarkt in Dayton

Calling all fans of German hearty fare and unique crafted goods: Christkindlmarkt is back in Dayton.

The Christkindlmarkt is an annual German Bazaar hosted by the Dayton Liederkranz-Turner German Club in downtown Dayton. This year’s bazaar is a two-day event held at the Liederkranz building from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15. The Liederkranz is located at 1400 E. Fifth St., across from Stivers High School.

The centuries-old Christmastime market tradition originated in Nuremberg, Germany, in the mid-1500s and is now celebrated in German communities around the world.

“Quality vendors will offer handcrafted ornaments, handmade bath soaps and accessories, beer steins, amber jewelry from the Baltic, German collectible items, antiques, stained glass items, unique jewelry, note cards & gifts, paper cut outs, etc. The annual Liederkranz Christmas Raffle will also feature many wonderful items,” according to the event page.
