Word about his talent as a blues guitarist has spread fast throughout the Dayton area since he first hopped on stage to sit in with local heavy hitters like Noah Wotherspoon and Doug Hart recently.

Oh, and did I mention he’s 9 years old?
“I just can’t tell you,” an amazed Julie Delph, co-owner of the Blue Note, said about Mabarak’s playing. “I wouldn’t be making such a fuss about him if he wasn’t something.”

But tonight will be different because Mabarak isn't just sitting in. Tonight he's the headliner with his band of hired guns as Moses and the Commandments for his first show, which just happens to be limited to standing room only, according to Delph who says he's just a normal kid who happens to be very skilled on the guitar for his age.
“Last time when he played, he just got off stage, put his guitar away, and sat down and played with his Legos. He’s so cool,” Delph said.

There is no cover for tonight’s show, however, there is a waiting list to get in. So you will want to call ahead before going out to the show.

“The whole idea of the Blue Note is to help local musicians get exposure,” added Delph.
That mission statement has no age limit, apparently.
