Guided By Voices extends virtual concert streaming through Friday

Guided By Voices, one of the most prolific and influential bands to emerge from Dayton, has extended the streaming window for its virtual concert event until Friday, July 24, at 5 p.m. EST.

The concert premiered online on Friday, July 17, and was available to stream for another 96 hours. Due to popular demand, the band decided to extend the streaming window so more fans could purchase and access the concert this week.

Tickets to the virtual concert are available through The Brightside Music & Event Venue in downtown Dayton. The band first performed at the newly opened venue last September at Heedfest, the annual gathering of the biggest GBV fans in the world.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the band had to cancel their tour, including this year’s Heedfest, which was again scheduled to kick off at The Brightside. “We finally have a place to play in town, and we’re shut down,” lead singer Bob Pollard told us.

GBV decided to take their show online and present a virtual concert to their loyal fanbase. They contacted the Brightside to arrange a full concert production, with sound and light crew wearing masks and socially distancing. The band members themselves are tested for COVID-19 prior to the concert.

To help support venues like The Brightside, 20 percent of ticket sales will go to the venues virtually hosting the show, to help support these independent businesses during the shutdown.

The concert is also being produced to support the band’s upcoming 30th album, “Mirrored Aztec,” which comes out on Aug. 21.

Tickets to the concert are available and can be purchased for $25 plus fees at this link: https://noonchorus.com/brightside-gbv/ The concert is available until Friday, July 24, at 5 p.m. EST.
