“He’s not just the modern Sinatra, he also puts his own spin on covers of old rock ’n’ roll,” DeStefano said. “He’s also an award-winning pop songwriter with number one hits like ‘Haven’t Met You Yet,’ ‘Home’ and ‘Everything’ and he’s a really vibrant touring artist. It’s not stale. He does music from ‘Mack the Knife,’ 1928, all the way to a chart-topping hit in 2000-whatever. He’s an artist we can get a lot of leverage with for a really fun, exciting show.”
Shades of Buble has been converting new fans since 2015.

“A lot of women of a certain age are very huge Michael Buble fans and they bring their husbands somewhat unwillingly to the show,” DeStefano said. “At the end, the husbands are like, ‘I had no idea I was going to have so much fun. This is amazing.’ There’s everything in the show, from Elvis to Van Morrison to some Broadway stuff. He’s sung pretty much everything so it gives a lot of leeway. As long as we’re doing a song he performed live or recorded at some point, we feel like we have permission to do it.”

While the group focuses on one artist, Shades of Buble is unlike other tribute acts.
“There are a lot of tributes out there doing, ‘insert artist here,’ whether it’s Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson or whatever,” DeStefano said. “We’re not doing it that way. We’re rearranging Michael Buble’s catalog of songs in three-part harmony to create something totally new. It’s a really musically satisfying evening that really captures Michael’s spirit.
“Even if you aren’t familiar with Michael Buble, if you’re a lover of good music you’ll really enjoy the show,” DeStefano added. “It’s a great date night show. A lot of his music is very romantic. It’s a lot of fun. The audience is going to have a great time. We guarantee to put a smile on your face.”

Miami Valley Community Concert Association’s 2019-20 season presents the University of Dayton Faculty Brass Quintet on October 21, Tajci on March 8 and Mads Tolling and the Mads Men on May 18. Tickets for individual concerts are $30 adults and $5 students (first grade through college). Season tickets are $80 and $90 adults and $15 students.
