Restaurant Week is a bright spot in January dining for many.

This year’s event, which runs Jan. 22 through Jan. 29, offers the chance for discovery — whether it’s a new restaurant or a fresh dish at an old favorite.

The seasonal promotion presents an opportunity to sample the best that local restaurants have to offer in the form of three-course meals priced at $20.17, $25.17, or $30.17 at a variety of restaurants all over town.

“This is a week the restaurants showcase their talents and try out new menu items at a really good value. The restaurants love seeing new faces and participating in Restaurant Week. The last week in January is a slower time for the restaurants and this is a way to support (them),”said Amy Zahora, executive director of the Miami Valley Restaurant Association (MVRA).

Last year Zahora says more than 9,000 Winter Restaurant Week meals were sold.

A donation will be made to Womanline and the MVRA Scholarship Fund from the sale of each meal.

Zahora recommends making reservations in advance and to double-check the dates and the restaurants are participating — not all restaurants are open seven days a week. She also points out that earlier dining times and off-peak days like Sunday through Wednesday will have more availability.
