Break bread together this weekend at yumtastic food festival

“We should sit down, talk, be friends,” organizer said. “That is how we are going to make the difference.”

Everyone’s favorite reasons to head to a festival are obviously the smells and tastes of fresh festival food.

Ziya Kara, the Turkish American Society’s treasurer, said organizers hope to have a food festival quarterly going forward.

It is important for members of the community to break bread together, he said, adding that is particularly true now in light of divisiveness and apparent hate crimes like the recent shooting in a Pittsburgh synagogue that left 11 dead.

“We should sit down, talk, be friends,” Kara said. “That is how we are going to make the difference.”
