Dayton brewery tweaks, re-introduces beer

Dayton's Warped Wing Brewery at 26 Wyandot St. recently celebrated the re-release of its Jolly Tar rye beer. The result is a rye that's sweeter to the palate and goes down smooth.

“The difference this year is our brewmaster partner has incorporated the use of oatmeal and also raisins. So, it’s essentially changed with the flavor profile somewhat we believe to the positive,” said Warped Wing owner Joe Waizmann.

The brew is relatively low in alcohol by volume (5.7 percent) for craft beers, but the original received favorable reviews on multiple craft beer websites. Waizmann said the early returns on the updated recipe are also good.

“So far, I think people are digging it. We think that it’s going to be well received.”
