2 Miamisburg favorites team up for gourmet grilled cheese and wine pairing this weekend

Locally made wines and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches are on the "Miamisburg Pairing" menu Friday night, April 27 at Star City Brewing Company.

The sandwiches are coming from Star City's fellow Miamisburg business Watermark Restaurant, and the event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the brewery at 319 S. 2nd St.

“In addition to brewing, we also make a number of our own wines as the Peerless Mill Winery,” Justin Kohnen, co-founder of Star City Brewing, said in a release. “We’ve been wanting to do something special to feature our wines, and Chef Maria’s (Watermark chef-owner Maria Walusis) amazing gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches at Watermark came to mind.”

Watermark will be serving up thirds of gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches made with: Sliced pear and Dijon with Gouda; foie gras spread made with bacon; red wine and sun-dried tomato with muenster cheese; marinated sliced tomatoes and fresh basil with mozzarella cheese; and red wine-braised short ribs and caramelized onions with Swiss cheese.

The sandwiches will be paired with four wines made at Star City. Kohnen said he did not want to release the varietals (”That’s part of the surprise”), but said they will include both dry and sweet whites and reds.
