Looking to ring in the new year with a bang?

2018 has been a long year and a ton has happened. New Year’s Eve is supposed to be memorable, as you reminisce about all the good that came this year. But more important, it’s saying hello to what’s to come in the next.

✨ Star City Brewing Company ‘Star’ Drop

Star City Brewing Company is excited to host their namesake city’s first annual Star Drop on New Year’s Eve with an evening of upbeat soul from Lady Handsome. Doors are at 8pm and tickets including a midnight toast are $7 in advance or $10 on that day.

“Everyone’s heard of a New Year’s Eve Ball Drop, but we wanted to do something unique being from the Star City,” said Justin Kohnen, owner of Star City Brewing Company. “So with a whole evening’s party planned, the night culminates out on our patio with a Peerless Mill sparkling wine toast and Miamisburg’s first ever New Year’s Eve Star Drop.” 

The band Lady Handsome will fill the evening with upbeat soul. Doors are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $7 in advance or $10 on the day of and include a midnight toast. Music starts at 9 p.m. You can get your tickets at the brewery or online here.

✨ New Year’s Eve: Fiesta!

Ring in the New Year and Celebrate the Arrival of 2019 with music, song, and dance with a Latin flair from Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera and Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. In the Mead Theatre of the Schuster Center, the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance (DPAA) will present New Year’s Eve: Fiesta! This concert is the second signature event of the DPAA 2018-2019 Vistas season, when artists of the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance – dancers from the Dayton Ballet, a solo vocalist from the Dayton Opera, and the musicians of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra – combine their talents for an artistic celebration second to none.

The Schuster Center New Year’s Eve traditions that revelers have come to love and anticipate will again be part of the evening’s festivities: delicious food-by-the-bite available for purchase in the Wintergarden beforehand, a flute of champagne at intermission, and a colorful climactic balloon drop.

✨ NYE at Crowne Plaza

Crowne Plaza is offering a very special package for two this NYE, including a special menu at its rooftop restaurant, View 162. The accommodations for two packages are $159 and include a complimentary bottle of House Wine or House Champagne, breakfast on the rooftop, late check-out at 2 p.m. on New Year’s Day and entertainment in the restaurant to ring in the New Year. From 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. Joseph Glenn will be playing the steel drums and from 8 p.m.–midnight the Chris Comer Trio will be playing.

✨ BALL DROP NYE at Yellow Cab Tavern

It’s the second year for Yellow Cab’s Ball Drop party. Tickets are $10 in advance at eventbrite.com and at the door for $15. The “unmatched” rock ‘n’ roll party will host the band Team Void and The Big WAZU and special “master of ceremonies”, Zac Pitts of Living Dayton and Sound Valley. “So whether you're celebrating a great one or looking forward to a better one to come, join us for our second annual New Year's Eve Ball Drop at the Yellow Cab Tavern!” Doors are at 8 p.m. and music is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

✨ New Year’s Eve Celebration Tradition at Jag’s

This is one of the region’s favorite New Year’s Eve traditions. Jag’s Steak and Seafood annual New Year’s Eve celebration begins at 4 p.m. on Dec. 31 and continues through the New Year through last call at 1 a.m. Jan. 1. For $85, guests will receive a complimentary champagne welcome, a four-course meal selected from a special menu, a toast at midnight, and a night full of live music from 3-Piece Revival. For $25 more, guests will receive carefully selected wine pairings to accompany each course (excluding dessert). 

✨“Holiday Inn-Sanity” Murder Mystery Dinner 

 

You are welcome to the Holiday Inn to be the “test” group for the audition of a new keyboard player. But competition can be killer, and it’s likely you will be asked to solve a bigger mystery than who plays the most wicked rendition of “Don’t’ Stop Believin.’” There’s a prize at the end for the sleuth who unmasks the murderer.

✨New Year’s Eve Grand Ball 2018

If you want to try something truly different, celebrate New Year’s by transporting yourself back in time to the Civil War era. Although costumes are not required, men and women are encouraged to wear historical suits and formalwear (though not hobnail boots). Couples will participate in Victorian dances (no prior experience required) to the brass and percussion music of the 2nd Brigade Cavalry Band. There’ll be a full buffet of appetizers and desserts, and a social hour and tour of the Isaac Davidson Mansion, a 1873 Italianate mansion. Photographic portraits will also be available to preserve your Victorian selves.

✨Team Combat End of Times New Year’s Eve Overnighter 

There are two natural ways to spend New Year’s Eve. One is to have a nice meal and a few cocktails with your sweetheart culminating in a beautiful midnight kiss. The other is seven hours of apocalyptic combat. Team Combat is hosting an epic laser tag session in a 9,000-plus-square-foot urban indoor battlefield. Based on popular first-person shooter games, you will embark on objective-based missions that include 23 interior buildings, two sniper towers, military-grade equipment, and wireless respawning. The experience has been called a live-action version of “Call of Duty.”

✨ NYE New Carlisle Ball Drop

The ninth annual New Carlisle New Year’s Eve Ball Drop will go off rain or shine but unfortunately the fireworks at midnight have been cancelled. The event begins at 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, in downtown. The family-friendly event, presented by the Heritage of Flight Festival Committee, is free. The ball drop draws people from as far as Cincinnati and all over the area, with an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 people attending.

Scene 75 will welcome 2019 with a balloon drop at 2 p.m. for the kids and at 12 a.m. for everyone, and champagne or sparking cider toast at midnight. There are tons of things to do from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., including go-karting, Ohio’s first virtual reality arcade, laser tag and so many games in the game room. The event is for people of all ages.
