The Black Panther will prowl, and Dayton is ready to watch.

At least two special local screenings are planned for the Ryan Coogler sci-fi action adventure starring Chadwick BosemanMichael B. Jordan, Oscar nominee Angela Bassett and Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Lupita Nyong'o.

Centerville High School alumna Hannah Beachler is the production designer on "Black Panther."

Beachler, a product of Wright State University's film and production design program, won praise for her work on "Moonlight," "Miles Ahead," "Creed" and "Lemonade," a music video project from singer Beyoncé.

Among other things, a film’s production designers work closely with the director and producer on the film’s visual concept: styles, locations, graphics, props, lighting, camera angles and costumes.

Pre-sale tickets to see “Black Panther” have been a hot seller so far.

The first 24 hours of advance ticket sales for the movie were the largest for any Marvel film on Fandango, according to our sister publication the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
