New Year’s Eve Family Bash

Skaters at the Kettering Rec Center lace up their rental skates before taking to the ice. With the October opening of the NTPRD Chiller Ice Rink in Springfield, the area now has four public rinks from which to choose: South Metro in Washington Twp., Hobart Arena in Troy, Kettering Rec, and the NTRPD Chiller. You can count down to New Year’s during the family-friendly hours of 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Kettering Recreation Complex. New to this year’s event, there will be a NYE Kettering Rec Center “passport.”

Here are more details from the city’s website: “This passport will help you to find new things to do this year! Take a lap on the ice with a decorated assistant, slide down into the pool with a over-sized shirt, make an ‘underdoggy’ shot in the gym, bounce and shout in the bouncy house, get creative in the craft area and find all of the ‘clocks’ around the KRC to complete your search! For doing all of this, you will be entered into a chance to win a 2019 family waterpark pass.”

Where: Kettering Rec Center, 2900 Glengarry Drive, Kettering

When: 5:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31
Cost: $15 per family of four. $5 per additional person. Preregistration is not required. Skate rental is $3 per person.
