These are the Dayton-centric gifts you picked in Dayton.com’s Best of 2018 contest that will definitely make someone feel special.
WINNER: Esther Price Chocolates
That gold candy box with its red bow is none other than Esther Price Candies.
The company was started by Esther Price, who baked and sold the scrumptious delights out of her home until 1952, when she opened her first store on Wayne Avenue.
The same chocolate recipe that Price used in 1926 is the one owner Jim Day still uses today. The chocolate company, a piece of Dayton history, celebrated its 90th birthday in 2016.
SECOND PLACE: Dorothy Lane Market Killer Brownies
Who wouldn’t love a gift tin of those amazing Dorothy Lane Market Killer Brownies?
The Original Killer Brownie is a combination of chocolate brownie, caramel and chopped pecans that will delight anyone. In fact, DLM says they sell thousands every week.
There are other yummy flavors to choose from too including German Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Salted Caramel Killer Brownies to name a few.
THIRD PLACE: Heart Mercantile T-shirts
Heart Mercantile, 438 E. Fifth St., in Dayton’s Oregon District has got the perfect Dayton-centric gift you can wear.
Their quirky T-shirts are a perfect way to broadcast love for the city.
