Carrie Underwood shows part of face months after needing more than 40 stitches

Slowly but surely, Carrie Underwood is showing her face — literally — in public again.

The country star, who has kept photos of herself to a minimum since falling at home and receiving 40-50 stitches in her face in November, shared a rare photo on social media Wednesday, a black-and-white shot of her sitting in what looks like a recording studio.

"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike (Fisher, Underwood's husband) that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in," she wrote in a year-end message to her fan club last year.

"When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different," she wrote. "I'm hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don't know how it's all going to end up."

In December, a Twitter user shared a look at Underwood via a selfie she snapped with the country singer at the gym, with Underwood's face still looking remarkably normal a mere few weeks after her accident.
