Dayton-area grad praised for work on ‘Moonlight’, Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’

If things go as predicted, they'll have to make room for a Centerville grad’s movie at the Academy Awards in February. 

Hanna Beachler, a product of Wright State University's film and production design program, was the  production designer on the Barry Jenkins-directed film “Moonlight.”

The New Orleans-based filmmaker also was the production designer on  Beyoncé’s critically-acclaimed HBO special "Lemonade" and the 2016 Academy Award nominated film "Creed." 

In its Nov. 29 edition, Variety called Beachler "Hollywood’s production designer of the moment."

An Oscar hopeful, “Moonlight” is the coming of age story of a young, gay black man. It is nominated for a Golden Globe for best drama.  

"LA LA Land," which stars Springfield native John Legend, is nominated in the best musical or comedy category.

Beachler is working on the Ryan Coogler-directed film, Marvel's feature “Black Panther.”

Centerville grad was the production designer on Beyoncé HBO special "Lemonade"

She got her big break with Coogler’s independent debut film “Fruitvale Station.”
