A nationally known matchmaker hopes to hook singles up in her hometown.
Candace Smith, the director of recruiting on BRAVO’s “The Millionaire Matchmaker” and senior matchmaker on two seasons of WE TV’s “Million Dollar Matchmaker” will hold a Singles Mingle from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Taste restaurant, 2555 Shiloh Springs Road in Trotwood.
Registration is $30 at the door or in advance at candacesmith.com/loveandwine.
“I talk about how to meet people of quality in the real world,” said Smith, a graduate of Chaminade-Julienne High School and the University of Dayton. “It is just a good way for singles to meet other singles.”
Admission includes appetizers and a wine tasting with selections from JW Wines. DJ Ron Hunter will provide music for the event that includes time to mingle after Smith shares her thoughts on single life, dating techniques and how to meet people.
Smith, the 2003 Miss Ohio USA, holds a psychology degree from UD and is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law. She recently launched the “Love by Candace” podcast and is working on a book and developing her own TV show.
She will present a women’s empowerment workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 7 at 1972 Central Ave in downtown Cincinnati. Admission is $60 and there will be a variety of giveaways.
The daughter of Ida Smith and the late C.J. McLin Jr., a state representative, Candace Smith splits her time between Hawaii and Los Angeles.
She said he hopes to do more events in the Dayton area.
She said dating can be difficult in cities like Dayton partly due to the racial divide and the pressures people may face from their families and or cultures.
“In cities like this, people limit themselves,” she said.
Smith said there may be love connections at her event.
“The hope is that you can have a diverse group of people who are actually single and who are actually motivated enough to meet somebody else and to learn,” she said.
