John Legend-produced ‘Underground’ series cancelled by WGN America

WGN America cancelled season 3 of “Underground,” a drama set on the brink of the Civil War.

The television series tells the story of a group of slaves who plan a 600-mile escape to freedom using the Underground Railroad. Singer and songwriter John Legend is one of the show’s executive producers.

Legend took to social media to express to the fans of the series they will try to find a new home for the show.

There is some speculation the streaming service Hulu has been considered as a possible new network for the show. Hulu already owns the streaming rights for “Underground.” BET and OWN have passed on picking up the show, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
