Dayton area high school and college students step in to the media’s shoes during the Greater Dayton Association of Black Journalists’ 2019 boot camp held at Cox Media Center, Saturday, March 2.
More than 30 students practiced digital, TV, radio and print news gathering and reporting skills.
Established more than a decade ago, the hands-on camp is designed to inspire the next generation of journalists and to encourage critical thinking and informed media consumption.
Journalists from the Dayton Daily News, Dayton.com, WHIO radio and television and other local news organizations volunteered during the program.
Dayton police Sgt. Creigee Coleman and Montgomery County Judge E. Gerald Parker Jr. assisted with the half-day program.
