Must-have Dayton swag

For a while there, the word Dayton might as well have been mud. Now, Dayton's people are proudly sporting the Gem City's name across their chests (and no, we're not just talking about UD fans, but that's happening too).

"People are finally starting to admit they are proud to be from Dayton," Mary Kathryn Burnside told us. Burnside is the owner of Clash Consignment Co., located at 521 E. Fifth St. in Dayton's Oregon District. The eclectic shop offers work from local and regional artisans and a fantastic selection of vintage clothes.

The gem on the forehead of the store's Day of the Dead-reminiscent sugar skull logo is part of the design featured on hoodies, t-shirts and onesies sold exclusively for clash.

Burnside said the Gem City gear designed by local artist Matt Freeman has been a hit with current and former Dayton area residents.

"People move from Dayton and they miss it," she said. "They like to take back something that says Dayton on it."

T-shirts bearing the Dayton neighborhoods design have also been hot sellers. It was created by Janell Barker, co-owner of Press Coffee Bar, when the business opened four years ago. Barker said she and her husband Brett saw similar map deesigns representing neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Chicago, and figured the same sort of thing would be popular here.

"People are proud of where they live," Barker said.

They've sold more than 300 Dayton neighborhood t-shirts since.

Below is some of the area's best Dayton merchandise, where to find it and how much it will set you back. Did we miss something super awesome? Tell us in the comments.
