7 treasures we found on a trip to Tipp City antique shop

When the holidays come around, local antique stores don’t often pick up on the decor component the way mainstream stores do.

Midwest Memories Antiques in Tipp City takes the holidays very seriously.

>> Best places to eat in Tipp City

Never have we seen an antique store so fully embrace the spirit of Christmas. Nearly every vendor in the store had holiday merchandise and antiques for sale with decorations to match, which made it really fun to shop. There were hundreds of Santas at various prices as well as cool retro and kitschy holiday decorations that were priced right.

The shop, which features more than 90 dealers, is located right in the middle of downtown Tipp City.

It offers a coffee bar with different refreshments and snacks in case your shopping leaves you parched. The store features a variety of home decor, furniture, collectibles and locally made merchandise. The store features Midwest Redesigned, a stock of Annie Sloan Paint and accessory products.

In addition to antiques, they offer locally made items including: Pillows by Sew A Fine Seam; Wood words by Carpenter Farmhouse; Haney & Sons Tea & Foaming Hand Soaps by A Prickly Pear; Iron Orchard Design transfers by Frill; Botanical classes by Fairy Dust & Rust and Industrial lighting by Brick Haus Lighting Studio.

Here are some of our favorite things we found on a recent trip:

Christmas prints ($5)

These retro prints are very cool. The booth in the front of the store selling them has vertical poster hanging kits available for $12. Pair them together and you have a smart-looking holiday decoration to hang on the wall.

Pillows ($39)

Some of the holiday- and Ohio-themed pillows at the front of the stores were clever and cute. We especially were taken with the Ohio State University pillow sporting the latitude and longitude of the school.

Handmade Ceramic Trees ($45 for the small, $100 for the large)

These cool trees made by All Fired Up out of Wilmington are sharp and make a great conversation piece.

>> Vintage ceramic trees could be worth a lot of money

Various Christmas cards (50 cents)

These may not be the best holiday cards we’ve ever seen, but even the dollar stores can’t beat the price.

Santas, Santas, Santas!!! (various prices)

A really fun Empire Plastic Santa head cookie jar for $20 would make a fun gift for anyone who loves the holidays but has everything they need. There were Santas for sale in nearly every booth we looked into.

A wooden spinning Nativity scene ($15)

This wooden spinning nativity for $15 was a great price at booth No. 60.

NOEL light toppers ($4 each)

Go retro with these kitschy NOEL light toppers that are colorful and playful. Anyone on the block can have a candle light in the window, but not everyone is going to have dressed it up like this.
