Taste summer with a ripe, delicious peach

As summer is heating up one way to cool off is with a sweet peach treat!

Here are 7 tips to help you get the most out of your peaches:

  • Choose peaches that show a background of color: red or creamy with a rosy blush
  • Look for smooth unwrinkled skin and no blemishes, bruises, or tan circles
  • Sniff the stem end of the peach. You should be able to smell the peachy fragrance
  • Leave peaches at room temperature a day or two to soften on the counter or in a paper bag
  • Store ripe peaches in the refrigerator 3-5 days, keeping in mind that they taste better at room temperature
  • Before eating, wash peaches carefully in cool soapy water, then rinse well
  • Peaches are very fragile. Handle them as little as possible before eating. Squeezing a peach before it is ripe may bruise the fruit
