The first acts for the Fraze Pavilion’s 2021 season were released Thursday and the remainder of the lineup is expected to be announced today.

Rock bands Styx and Night Ranger will be at the Fraze July 23, according to the venue’s website. The 7:30 p.m. show is part of the SummerFest series.

The concert will be the first event the 4,300-seat popular outdoor city-owned venue has hosted since 2019 due to the coronavirus.

The entire Fraze season lineup is expected to be announced today, Kettering Mayor Don Patterson said earlier this week.

City Manager Mark Schwieterman has said plans were to reopen the Fraze in mid-July and have the season run through early September.

The July 23 concert was not listed Thursday morning as part of the Styx 2021 tour on the band’s website. However, shows in Fort Wayne, Ind. on July 22 and in York, Pa. on July 24 have been announced.

The band became prominent in the mid-1970s with the single power ballad “Lady.” It was followed with the albums Grand Illusion, which was certified as triple platinum, Pieces of Eight, Cornerstone — yielding the No. 1 single “Babe” — and Paradise Theater.

Styx features original members Chuck Panozzo (bass and vocals) and James Young (lead vocals and guitar), as well as Tommy Shaw (lead vocals and guitar), who joined later and helped Styx rise to fame.

Tickets for the show range from $40-$65 and $165 for a VIP package. They will go on sale at 10 a.m. June 5 at Fraze FanFare in Town & Country Shopping Center and at the Fraze Pavilion Ticket Office on that day only, according to the Fraze website.

They are also available online at etix.com or Charge By Phone 1-800-514-3849.
