The founders of the Butter Café are gearing up to launch a new venture next door to their breakfast-and-lunch spot on Brown Street near the University of Dayton.
Glo Juice Bar + Cafe is projected to open this spring at 1120 Brown St., co-founder Amy Beaver told this news outlet.
The new business will serve cold-pressed juices and smoothies, a variety of toasts, and perhaps a selection of cold sandwiches, according to Beaver, who co-owns Butter Cafe and Glo Juice Bar with her business partner, Sarah Dudley.
“It’s something we both believe in for our health, and it’s something we’ve done at home,” Beaver said. “We can’t do it at the restaurant because we just don’t have the room.”

Customers of Butter Cafe, which opened in 2010 at 1106 Brown St., won’t have to travel far for their smoothie. The two businesses are separated by only a small parking lot.
The new Glo Juice Cafe is directly next door to the new Greek restaurant called The Gyro Room that we told you about yesterday. Other recent restaurant openings along the Brown Street strip near UD include Zombie Dogz and Bibibop.
Glo Juice Bar & Cafe will seat about 15, and could open as early as March, Beaver said.
