Popular Dayton beer pub and live-music venue South Park Tavern has been sold.
Ryan Carey, South Park Tavern’s new owner, told this news outlet today that he intends to keep the South Park Tavern name and maintain and enhance its focus on craft beer and live music. The tavern is located at 1301 Wayne Ave., about a mile southeast from downtown Dayton.
“The plan is to nurture the South Park community and the pizza tavern’s loyal customer base with an embellished live music offering, rejuvenated exterior, and the same great pizza but with a few refreshed menu items,” Carey said.
“The commitment to craft beer will most definitely stay the same, but I want to do a better job of promoting it, informing our audience of what on tap and what is in the pipeline.”

Carey said the live-music offerings will expand.
“The music at SPT has long been a great part of the image, and there have been some great bands to come through here,” the new South Park owner said. “Talking to the staff, we can do better. We can do more.”
Some renovations are planned, including a freshening up of the exterior, but the improvements won’t cause any interruptions in service, Carey said.
The new South Park Tavern owner said he had been looking for a business opportunity.
“I have been scoping places out for a few years, and talking to Dayton business owners who were looking to sell,” Carey said. “Bill (Daniels), the previous owner, presented the opportunity, and South Park’s charm made it a no-brainer.”
