The Dayton City Commission on Wednesday will decide whether to purchase the former Dayton Daily News site for $450,000 from its owner, demolition contractor Steve R Rauch.

The city is considering purchasing properties located at 117 W. Fourth Street and 45 S. Ludlow Street.

The downtown property was the site of the former Dayton Daily News building, which was torn down as part of plans to redevelop the property into student housing for Sinclair Community College.

But the developer, Student Suites, failed to move forward with the project.
