Woman asks thieves to return keepsakes from infant son's funeral

An Oklahoma woman is asking for the public’s help after she says thieves stole keepsakes from her son's funeral.

Harlie Tatum said someone broke into her home and stole a safe containing a photo album and keepsakes from her son, Elijah, who died in his sleep almost six years ago. Family members made a photo album for  Tatum containing photos from his short life.

Tatum said she kept the safe containing the items in a closet. She said she and her husband were not staying in the home when someone broke in because a storm damaged their roof last spring and recent rains forced them to stay with family.

She said she came home to find the home trashed and items stolen.

The family is asking the thieves to return the safe, no questions asked. Tatum posted the passcode online so thieves can see that there is nothing other than the album and funeral keepsakes inside.

Tatum said she takes the album out when she feels like she wants to remember Elijah or needs a good cry. She said it always gave her a sense of healing, as though it put a piece back in her heart when she felt like it would disappear.
