Coronavirus: 2020 Troy PorchFest canceled

The 2020 PorchFest is canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center said in a release. The festival was originally scheduled to take place on Sept. 12.

The festival has been described as “over 36 bands in a hodgepodge of styles and genres playing throughout the Southwest Historic district on porches in side-yards, lots and patios.”

In the past, the event has attracted over 1,000 visitors, as well as artisans, vendors, volunteers, volunteers and concert hosts. Officials decided it would be best to cancel the event to ensure the safety of all those who may be involved.

“The decision was not an easy one but was the culmination of many discussions, the foremost being our concern for the welfare of our neighbors. Because we believe in the festival, and because we have had such a strong commitment from the community, we will continue to build on what we have accomplished so far and plan that we will be back, better than ever, in 2021,” Spokeswoman Terrilynn Meece said.
