Fire sends shoppers outdoors at The Greene in Beavercreek

UPDATE @ 1:14 p.m.

Stores and apartments at The Greene were evacuated after a fire occurred in a trash compactor inside the building.

Crews in Beavercreek encountered smoke and flames coming from the trash compactor. They put it out quickly, but residents in upstairs apartments, store employees and customers had to exit the building.

No one was injured. Stores were set to reopen after crews cleared the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Shoppers and employees at The Greene in the building that houses Sephora and other retail stores, were evacuated due to a trash fire that set off alarms and sent smoke in to the air.

According to crews on scene, the building was evacuated after 12 p.m. as a precaution. As of 12: 50 p.m., shoppers and employees are still being kept out of the building.

There are no reports of injuries or serious damage.
