Donut Haus employee to open his own doughnut shop

A Springboro doughnut-shop employee who started working in the bakery when he was 14 will launch his own new doughnut shop this spring.

Ryan Tripp, an eight-year employee of The Donut Haus in Springboro, will open Bear Creek Donuts in downtown Miamisburg in the next 45 to 60 days, according to Tripp and Mike Hemmert, owner of the Donut Haus.

Bear Creek Donuts will be located at 80 S. Main St., in the same building that houses Taste of Wine wine bar and retail shop. The 900-square-foot space will seat about 25.

“I could not be more excited and proud of him,” Hemmert said of Tripp. “He will bring his own touches to what he has learned during his tenure at The Donut Haus.”

Tripp is the sole owner of the new venture, Tripp and Hemmert said this morning, although Tripp added that he “will definitely be relying on Mike for a lot of his business insight.”
