Mark Kimball, 54, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Kimball went to the St. Petersburg home of his friend, 38-year-old Michael Drake, for sex, the Times reported. Kimball told deputies that Drake attacked him with a knife, cutting his neck multiple times before leaving, the newspaper reported.
Kimball left the house and was found in a yard several feet away, where a resident called 911.
Deputies searching for Drake found him five hours later after responding to a robbery in another part of St. Petersburg, the Times reported. Drake admitted to attacking Kimball, and a 10- to 12-inch kitchen knife was found at his home, WTVT reported.
Drake was charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder and is in custody at the Pinellas County Jail, charged with one count of second-degree attempted murder, the Times reported.
