When Westfield Fire Department public information officer Matt Biljanic thought his home had been hit by lightning, he ran outside to investigate. He saw that his home was not hit, but the lightning bolt had struck a neighbor's home across the street and started a fire, WXIN reported.

Biljanic told his neighbors to vacate their home and called firefighters, the television station reported. The strike causes a softball-sized hole in the home, WXIN reported.

Firefighters arrived quickly and put out the blaze, the television station reported. There were no injuries, and damage estimates for the house are unknown.
