Dayton Mall restaurant to add 2nd location in Centerville

A restaurant that has operated for decades at the Dayton Mall is gearing up to open a second location in Centerville.

The Dayton area’s second Steak Escape is in the works at 6201 Wilmington Pike at Clyo Road near Miami Valley Hospital South. The restaurant will seat up to 30, will have a drive-through, will deliver, and will offer catering, Steak Escape co-owner and director of operations Michael Jraisat told this news outlet. The Dayton Mall restaurant will remain open, “and we’re hoping to expand more,” Jraisat said. Michael’s father Joseph Jraisat is franchisee of the restaurants.

“We wanted to bring our brand to the Dayton area in a setting outside the mall,” the Steak Escape owner said. “We get guests all the time asking us if we have any other locations outside the mall.

“The Dayton Mall location is our first baby — we’ve been there as owners since 2003 — and we’re greatly appreciative of the loyalty and support we’ve had over the years. We’re looking forward to be a part of the bigger community very soon. It’s very exciting.”

The opening date for the new Steak Escape has not been set. The restaurant is accepting applications on the Steak Escape web site, or applicants can fill out an application at either the Dayton Mall or the Wilmington Pike location.

Steak Escape was founded in 1982 in Columbus. The cheesesteak restaurant chain operates three Columbus-area restaurants and two Toledo-area locations in addition to its expanding presence in the Dayton market.

Most Steak Escape locations are in mall food courts, but the chain started in 2015 testing a prototype free-standing restaurant, opening its first such location that year in Hilliard near Columbus.
