A person who answered the phone at the Washington Twp. Tim Hortons restaurant this morning declined comment on the closing, referring questions to corporate representatives. Messages left with Tim Hortons officials today, May 4 have not been returned.
The Washington Twp. store was NOT among those operated by a local franchisee that has committed to expanding the Tim Horton’s brand throughout the Dayton-Springfield area.

Ampex Brands, the franchisee for Dayton-area Tim Hortons locations, has added three Dayton-area Tim Hortons locations in the last six months, including a Riverside location at 1975 Harshman Road, just north of Stebbins High School last month.

Two others opened in late December: at 3010 Kettering Blvd. just south of West Dorothy Lane in Moraine, and at 1998 W. Main St. near Meijer in Troy. And three more are in various stages of development, Ampex officials said.
The openings are part of an expansion that could bring seven to 10 new Tim Hortons locations over the next three years, company officials have said.

Texas-based Ampex Brands operates several other franchise restaurants, including Long John Silver’s, Taco Bell, A&W Restaurants and KFC restaurants, in 17 states. It is also expanding the Tim Hortons footprint in the Columbus and central Ohio area.
