LAST CALL: Ohio liquor-control agency to host closeout sale, give away empty bourbon barrels, and sell a few rarities, too

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control will set up a “Last Call” liquor warehouse of sorts in Columbus to host a final closeout sale over the next two weekends, and it’s throwing in some other enticements to make the drive:

• a chance to win free (but empty) bourbon barrels

• a chance to purchase some other rare and sought-after bourbons.

The closeout events will be held Oct. 18-21 and Oct. 25-28 at a former Giant Eagle store at 777 Neil Ave. in Columbus.

If this pilot program is successful, the agency will consider taking future closeout events to other parts of Ohio, a spokeswoman for the ODLC said.

The closeout items are products that have been discontinued or “de-listed” from Ohio liquor stores. Discounts range from zero to 40 percent.
