Local brewery launches Trump-Hillary beer contest — in reverse

Crooked Handle Brewing Co. in Springboro is launching an election-themed beer promotion that pits Deplorable Donald Foam-Over IPA against Crooked Hillary Rye Pale Ale.

But here’s the wrinkle: whichever candidate sells the most beer doesn’t win the contest. He or she loses.

The unofficial name of the contest: “Make America Drink Again!”

Co-founder Jason Moore said the brewery wanted to have some fun with the election, since Ohio has a long bellwether history of predicting, and determining, the winner. Sales of the special election beers will be tracked from Oct. 11 through Election Day.

The two beers are actually renamed beers from Crooked Handle’s regular stable of brews. The Deplorable Donald Foam-Over is the brewery’s temporarily renamed Tangled Tangerine IPA, and the Crooked Hillary Rye Pale Ale is the brewery’s Rye, Cheat & Steal Pale Ale.

The brewery is located at 760 N. Main St. (Ohio 741) in the Marketplace at Settler’s Walk retail center that also includes Dorothy Lane Market’s Springboro store.
