Dozens of Dayton-area school districts seeking to hire teachers and school support staff for next year will participate in the Dayton Area Education Career Fair this Saturday.

The 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. event at Trent Arena in Kettering will include 40 school districts from 10 counties — Montgomery, Warren, Greene, Clark, Champaign, Madison, Miami, Shelby, Darke and Preble — according to the Dayton Area School Employment Consortium, which hosts the event.

The career fair will offer opportunities for new and experienced teachers, administrators, counselors, school psychologists, and other education professionals, as well as school support workers such as custodians, cooks, bus drivers, secretaries, and education assistants.

No pre-registration is required, and admission and parking are free. Trent Arena is located behind Kettering Fairmont High School, at 3301 Shroyer Road.

“It is important that individuals research any district they are interested in before attending this year’s event,” said Bonita Terry of the School Employment Consortium. “That research will help attendees find the best match for their experience and skills.”

Many Ohio school districts say they have struggled to fill certain jobs in recent years, including teachers of high school math, science and foreign languages. Many Dayton-area districts have also had difficulty hiring enough school bus drivers.

Attendees should bring several copies of their resume to the event. School districts will be represented by superintendents, human resources directors, principals or other administrators.
