$60M expansion at Centerville hospital under way

Miami Valley Hospital South is continuing with its $60 million expansion.

The southern location of Miami Valley Hospital, under Premier Health’s network, is adding 170,000 square feet of new space, which will let the Centerville facility expand services.

Construction is expected to be completed in stages through the fourth quarter of 2018.

The expansion will mean a new spine and joint center with expanded sports medicine, sports performance and pain center services, Premier said when it broke ground in May. There will be six operating rooms added, bringing the site's total to 16, and the expansion will also include 20 additional inpatient beds.

The work is part of a health care construction boom that has benefited local contractors working on the abundance of large projects in the Dayton area. Premier Health also has an annual goal of spending at least 40 percent of its construction budget with minority or women-owned firms, which it has exceeded the past two years.
