The plans have not yet been reviewed by city staff, and they must go through an approval process that also includes the Huber Heights Planning Commission and City Council, Assistant City Manager Scott Falkowski said this afternoon, Monday May 18.
“The property is currently zoned for commercial use. This use is different than the currently approved plan, and they are planning on expanding the building, so that is why it goes to Planning Commission and City Council,” Falkowski said.

Richard E. Shaw Jr., Huber Heights City Council member for Ward 1, said he is encouraged by the plans.
“I think that during the Covid-19 outbreak, to see a property like that sold and economic development going on in Huber Heights, that is great news,” Shaw said.

Montgomery County property records show the 2.3-acre Taylorsville Road property was purchased for $375,000 less than three weeks ago by an LLC connected with Big Sandy.
Company officials did not immediately return a request for comment.
Big Sandy Superstores are designed to be four stores in one, selling furniture, mattresses, appliances and HDTVs, Big Sandy CEO Robert VanHoose told this news outlet last summer.

The company, based in Franklin Furnace in south-central Ohio, operates 19 stores in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Big Sandy invested nearly $2 million in its first Dayton-area location last year, transforming a 53,360-square-foot building at 2400 Miamisburg Centerville Road that previously housed an Elder-Beerman Furniture Store.
