Coronavirus: Clark County bar, one of three statewide, cited for violating reopening policies

A Medway bar was cited over the weekend for violating COVID-19 reopening policies put in place by Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton and Gov. Mike DeWine.

Pat & Martha’s Tavern, located at 2928 Lake Road in Medway, was issued an Administrative Citation from the Ohio Investigative Unit for, “violation of 4301:1-1-13 Section A of the Ohio Administrative Code,” or, “inside premise sale/consumption.”

The Ohio Investigative Unit, which has statewide jurisdiction over all liquor permit holders, has been tasked with enforcing policies associated with COVID-19 compliancy. Enforcement may include criminal actions, administrative citations and liquor license revocations.

The statewide public health order regarding bars and restaurants requires six feet of social distancing between workers and customers and mandates that patrons may only consume food and alcohol while sitting.

The OVI issued two other citations - one in Columbus and one in Stark County. Agents did not witness infractions during other compliance checks, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
