The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed the starting date for West Carrollton’s year-round elementary school.
Schnell elementary’s new school year, which had scheduled to start in mid-July, will now begin Aug. 19, the first day for the other schools, according to the district.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced in March the closing of schools in the state due to COVID-19. He extended that order twice, resulting in school closing through June.
West Carrollton school officials last week were told by local health officials Schnell will not be allowed to resume school in July due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to the district.
The board of education then voted to moved the start date for Schnell to August.
The school district includes parts of Moraine and Miami Twp.
