Dayton’s Liberty Tower is a movie star with its own code name

A historic downtown Dayton building is enjoying a little dose of Hollywood.

The Liberty Tower, known as the Mutual Home Building when it was completed in 1931, was a filming location for "The Old Man and the Gun," a movie starring Robert Redford, Danny Glover and Sissy Spacek. The movie is now showing in Dayton.

Here are 3 things to know about the Liberty Tower:

1. During World War II the building had its own code name – “Dog Easy 77.”

2. It is Dayton’s only “setback” Art Deco skyscraper. The building, designed with “setbacks” at intervals, gives it the look of stacked blocks.

3. The marble for the lobby walls was transported from Italy by steam ship.
