Company digging post holes hits gas line in Centerville-Washington Twp.

UPDATE @ 9:45 p.m.: A company digging post holes for a fence in the 1500 block of Ambridge Road hit a 2-inch residential as line with their auger, which prompted the evacuation of three homes and the swimming pool at Black Oak Park, Washington Twp. fire Battalion Chief Josh Augustine said.

A Vectren crew remains on scene, working to stop the leak.

Augustine said crews kept people at the pool, which is near the source of the leak, but evacuated it about 8:20 p.m. when the wind shifted toward the facility.

He said he had no information whether the company, which he did not name, checked the residential property for gas lines before digging.

Crews were dispatched just after 7 p.m. on the report of a gas leak.

Streets at either end of Ambridge Road -- Bigger Road as well as Rolling Oak and Langdon/Park Creek drives -- will remain closed until further notice, he said.

A Vectren crew is on scene of the reported gas leak in Centerville-Washington Twp.

We’re told that two residences have been evacuated.

INITIAL REPORT

A gas leak reported in the 1500 block of Ambridge Road in Centerville-Washington Twp. has prompted residential evacuations.

A Vectren crew has been requested by Dayton fire crews on scene of the incident, reported about 7:30 p.m.

There have been no injuries reported.

Traffic has been blocked at Rolling Oak Drive and Langdon/Park Creek drives. We’re also hearing that people who are at a public swimming pool at Black Oak Park have been told to remain there until further notice.

We have a crew on the way. We will update this developing report as we learn more.
