Have a ‘Sandmazing’ time this week

There is a lot of sand in the Park at Austin Landing this week. No, it didn't suddenly become Dayton's first desert – it's the third annual Sandmazing event.

From Monday, June 5, through Friday, June 9, internationally known sand sculptors will be working hard at Austin Landing to produce four 10-ton sand sculptures and one 30-ton sculpture for everyone to enjoy. You and your family are invited to stop by during lunch and dinner hours on each date to watch as the artists work their magic.

This year’s theme is “Under the Sea,” which means the sculptors will bring ocean wildlife to Austin Landing by carving some fantastic sea creatures into the sand.

On Saturday, June 10, Austin Landing will host a FREE Kids' Day from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., to show off the sculptors' final works of art. Your littles can exercise their own self-expression in the Park's giant sandbox. Many of your favorite ocean characters will be in attendance, as well, ready to take pictures with your kids…or selfies with mom or dad.

There also will be a zip line, inflatable rides, bounce houses, an obstacle course, and face- and hair-painting. Sponsor Kettering Physician Network will be passing out summertime goodies and providing prizes for some lucky visitors.

Grab your friends and family and head out to Austin Landing for free entertainment all week long. Don’t forget your flip-flops!
