On Aug. 7, Spaghetti Warehouse Dayton said it would donate 100 percent of its profits from its sales that day to assist those whose loved ones were impacted by the shootings that took place on Aug. 4 and left nine innocent victims dead. The shooter was shot dead by police as he was headed inside a crowded Oregon District bar a few blocks up the street from Spaghetti Warehouse.

The Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant in downtown Dayton — which is in the midst of a significant renovation as it gears up for a 40th anniversary celebration next year — will donate the profits from all sales today, Wednesday Aug. 7, to the Oregon District Tragedy Fund at the Dayton Foundation, the restaurant's franchise owner announced.

“Help us as we stay #DaytonStrong in the midst of this terrible tragedy,” the restaurant’s operators said in a release.
“We want to be a part of the rebuilding of our community,” franchise owner Michael Kim told this news outlet Tuesday.

Kim, of Dallas, Texas, took over ownership of Dayton’s Spaghetti Warehouse as well as its sister restaurants in Toledo and Akron in December, and has launched a series of renovation projects that he says will improve the restaurant experience for customers and employees.
Known for its trolley-car seating and towering lasagna, the Dayton Spaghetti Warehouse has operated at 36 W. Fifth St. since 1980, outlasting dozens of its peers as downtown’s fortunes ebbed and flowed.

Renovations that are either underway or planned for 2019 include modernizing the kitchen, renovating the restaurant’s bathrooms, giving banquet rooms a significant makeover, and re-designing and renovating the bar area. The investment will reach six figures just this year alone, Kim said.
